photo of St. Barnabas Church

St Barnabas Church, Chappel together with All Saints Church, Wakes Colne form one Church of England ecclesiastical Parish.  Our Parish forms part of a single Benefice with the Parish of Great and Little Tey, currently within the Halstead and Hinckford Deanery in the Diocese of Chelmsford.

Our former Rector of 30 years, Revd John Richardson, retired in May 2020 and sadly will not be replaced.  The Parish and Benefice are currently awaiting direction from the Diocese for future supervisory and leadership arrangements.

Church opening and services

During lockdown St Barnabas Church, Chappel is open for private prayer on Sundays from 9.30am to 1.30pm and on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 6pm.  All Saints Church, Wakes Colne remains closed.  Services are expected to resume during August, in conjunction with the Parish of Great and Little Tey, with Holy Communion being celebrated at a church within the Benefice on a monthly basis.  For details of services please see church notice boards.

All are welcome to attend our services held throughout the Benefice.
