No English summer would be complete without the sounds of leather on willow, generous applause rippling across a sunlit cricket pitch or the contented sigh of a cricket enthusiast enjoying their game.
Well, you don’t need to stray as far as the Oval for some top class cricket thanks to the Chappel and Wakes Colne Cricket Club. Based at the Cricket Ground in Inworth Lane, Wakes Colne, the Club has two adult league teams, a friendly team and hasbeens side.
Playing in the North Essex Cricket League the 1st team is in the second division and the 2nd team is in the third.
Boys and girls are encouraged to play starting with kwik cricket for age 7 and upwards and three Colts age groups ranging from 10-16 years old. You can find out more by visiting the website or contacting the people listed below. The younger Colts and Kwik Cricketers normally meet on a Monday night at 6.00pm between May and September.
