This Housing Needs Survey is in response to Colchester City Councils recent draft revisions to the Local Plan. The Plan includes the proposal for 35 new houses on Chappel Hill to the South of Swan Grove in Chappel. The Plan also includes the proposal for 200 new houses on land to the West of The Village Hall on the North side of the A1124 in Wakes Colne. Looking forward, there may be other small developments proposed and therefore a Housing Needs Survey is pertinent at this time.

The residents of Chappel & Wakes Colne are therefore invited to complete this survey and
say what you think are the requirements for additional housing and community amenities
in the villages. The survey includes questions relating to the existing housing stock and
infrastructure within the villages and asks what requirements you consider are important
if new housing developments are to be built in Chappel & Wakes Colne.

Hopefully the response to this outline survey will highlight the need for a more detailed
consultation and even the future production of a Neighbourhood Plan which would allow
you the villagers, to have more influence on planning policies that control proposed changes and development in your area and community.

You can complete the paper form delivered with your next Village Reporter Magazine and it can be posted in a box at Wakes Colne Post Office. Alternatively, the survey can be completed on-line by following the link:
